the one with kitsch

don't you just adore kitsch like hotels? such a super fabulous and quirky way of showcasing local artists.

check out kunstlerheim luise and propeller island city lodge in berlin, lutesuites in netherlands, daddylonglegs independent travellers hotel in cape town south africa and reflections in bangkok (check out room 410, her particular favs are room 401, 209 and 402).

what's yours?

chic little one bedder at phahran, love love love the concrete walls!

don't know for sure how far out coburg is but it sure as hell look like a potentially great open plan living space for long term investment. too bad this warehouse conversion has only 1 bedroom

the one with the crash

was enroute back to the agency from client's place when their cab got into an accident on the highway. she and em were busy chatting at the back and freaked out when their cabbie and jessie (in the front seat) started shouting "oh my God, oh my God". apparently, the vehicles in front started slowing down quite suddenly (for God knows what reason) and the (half dreaming) cabbie didn't realise how close we were until the eleventh hour. he tried jamming the brakes but we could see the crash coming cos there's just NO WAY we could slow down in time given the speed we were going at the close distance. the cab's front bonnet was three quarts squashed while the boot and back half of the other car was badly damaged. they had to wait for another cab in the middle of a hot and dusty highway cos the impact killed the cab's engine. she felt bad for the cabbie who now had to forfeit his $1,500 bond. weirdest thing was...the driver in front wasn't pissed at all?!? that dude apparently owns a car rental company and even came over to pass us his name card. jeez! freaky experience.

you know how some people say you see your life unfolding in front of you in times of impending danger?

not exactly.

cos her mind was a complete blank.

of moody days

it is FUCKING annoying to hear people banging on keyboards and slamming drawers when you're suffering from gastric and am trying to finish up some overdued work. don't vent your bloody frustrations on others when you HAD the choice to walk away from what's known as hell to you.

FUCK. grow up for once cos you're not gonna earn respect behaving like a five year old.

remarkable hospitality landmarks

for those who wish to experience living like grecian royalty, check out the nafplia palace hotel and villas, it apparently comes with hermes toiletries too. matakauri lodge in new zealand is absolutely amazing with its views of the fabled waterfront, likewise amangani in jackson hole wyoming. it'll be a dream come true globetrekking around the world's top 10 luxury hotels *drools*.

lovely apartment in toorak and interesting building facade at southbank. this looks like a sound investment but she just doesn't get why apartments in australia are designed with bath and bedrooms flanking entrances instead of open living and dining areas, totally odd. check this to-die-for unaffordable family home.

about letting go

it's funny how things are just not meant to be.

felt like a martha stewart yesterday and began cleaning up, filing and throwing loads of overdue paperwork out. the laptop needed some cleaning up too and while she was watching an MPEG from one of their many tv shoots, it brought on a tinge of sadness.

she had to admit the team had fun together in spite of infinite frustrating situations. the half time entertainment like swan water fountain impersonations by the senior producer and head of art which cracked her and their creative director up big time. videoing the snoring client (while on the job "supposedly supervising" the shoot). bitching about "scorcese and spielberg and ang lee" and how unbelievable it is that these three big shots combined HAD NO CASH to buy the team of six lunch at a roadside kopitiam. laughing big time at the head of art's traumatic experience of having person X trapping him close distance with bloody bad BO. bitching about Grand Master and his Grand disciple.

it's been helluva rollercoaster ride but she's glad she's never had to drag her feet into work each morning cos the people here almost always made up for it.

thank you to all the supportive people here, you guys kick ass.

of supermorons

how disrespectful and rude can some people get?

this bloody delivery man stormed into cedele, squeezed right up to the counter with no word of excuse me and shoved a delivery order slip to the cedele manager. while waiting for orders to be verified, mr uncouth delivery man asked a fucking rude question in mandarin:

"eh, just now when i was here, THAT MAN (points to a mildy retarded cedele helper) refused to help me sign the order, wah lau, then i have to wait so long. eh, he's a bit retarded one is it? jia lat la (shakes head while looking at the helper)"

and all this time, the cedele helper was just standing round the corner, retarded or not, she's sure the LOUD condescending tone of voice of mr uncouth delivery man can't be missed. the helper may lack social and functional academic capabilities but he still has basic adaptive functioning skills and has the ability to understand what people are saying cos she heard the helper talking to his colleagues before.

how inconsiderate can this delivery man be? fucking moron. she was so pissed she turned around, glared at him and was about to open her mouth to give him a piece of her mind but he took the signed orders and split before she could pull her thoughts straight.

it's friday and she's supposed to be happy, but she's F.U.M.I.N.G now.

house hunt

the vintage queen screams with pleasure at this beautiful little heritage apartment along riverside quay at southbank. the exposed timber beams and brick feature walls is enough to melt her heart.

and she just loves the garden like dining area for this home. greenery could do with some tidying up but nonetheless, a potentially nice cosy place.

this home looks kinda dodgy on the outside but you'll change your mind completely the moment you step in. a little boho yet yuppish, close distance to prahran market made it all the more sweeter.

she's looking for a home with the right price. in particular low rise homes in garden lined streets, 'liveable' suburbs and sunny homes. not particularly into contemporary new homes cos it just seem to lack depth like history and character.

tricky process but doable in melbourne.

the one with the cheery bride

there's the lovely bride, Kae at her banquet dinner last friday at Grand Shanghai. she 's the most relaxed bride i've ever seen. gerald (groom) and kae were table hopping, chatting with old friends, taking candid shots and mucking around. was great to see how relaxed and chilled the bride is cos isn't that what weddings are about? about being happy?

and to think she stopped conversation with us to run back for some shark's fin soup. haha

about the agency with guts

may be a tad old news but just managed to take a peek at may's marketing and found out...

CARAT FAREWELLS TIGER AIRWAYS
marketing understands Carat Singapore is terminating its relationship with Tiger Airways as the media house is unable to meet the budgetary requirements of the low cost carrier.

strategic move. it's sometimes better to let go than to bend over backwards for expectations which you know the agency can't meet.

about liars

if there's one particular trait she has low tolerance for, its lying.

should you (mr x) wish to do it, do it smartly and not in her face. do not go round spreading confidential information thinking the secret ends there. cos it won't, asshole. come on. do you take her as a five year old? she's worked in this industry longer than you did BRO. unfortunately, you were in the right place at the right time and have the good fortune of some godfather promoting you sooner than you deserve. don't try pulling shit over her eyes especially when she knows the people who fed the info back to her are good reliable friends. and don't puh-lease her after she confronts you, denying you ever did such a thing and that it's not your style.

incident 1 (8 Jun Thurs)
got a call from good trusty friend who just met mr x and found some "discrepancies" during the chat. ms bee then found out mr x knew bout her leaving cos he openly mentioned it during the chat (though he didn't reveal her name). that's fine with her cos it's not an issue bout what happens outside the agency.

incident 2 (8 Jun Thurs late evening)
she was asked by a senior colleague K if she was "leaving". K looked kinda upset that she wasn't told this info personally from ms bee. but come on, the letter of offer from the other agency wasn't signed at that point so why would she even reveal anything cept to her two trusty female teammates? anyhow, she seriously suspected mr x of blabbing again and so she decided to ask K what exactly did mr x mention. apparently, K's smart enough to deny and say its nothing, probably to avoid getting loudmouth into further trouble. well, ms bee ain't convinced and decided to take another route. she told K about her impending departure and guess what? K accidently exclaimed, "oh, so that means mr x's info is really quite updated huh?"

hmmm. if mr x didn't tell K anything, how the heck would she know if the info is updated or not???????

anyhow, ms bee sent in the OFFICIAL resignation letter on 9 jun friday.

incident 3 (10 Jun Sat)
boss told mr x bout the resignation (obviously not knowing mr x already had FIRST hand info from God knows where). nothing wrong it seems BUT mr x just had to rile her further by IMing her teammate A on saturday asking her if she's planning to leave too seeing how two teammates (ms bee and T) have thrown their letters in. A got kinda pissed and asked him why did he go round telling others about ms bee's resignation before she even tendered? well, mr x gave such a classic lying answer. "please, i didn't know bout it till yesterday when boss told me bel tendered."

so... if you really didn't know it before the boss told you (on 9 jun friday), how could you have leaked the P&C info on 8 jun thursday? the least you could do is be honest bout it and apologise instead of denying it saying "this gossipy nature is against your character". lying and bragging to a third party outside the agency is your own business, we all do that in order to paint a better picture of ourselves at times, but lying to your teammate is unforgivable. she's doubted your personality and character before but now, it's purely affirmation.

she believes in karma. what goes round comes round, always be nice to people on your way up cos you never know who you might meet on your way down. so knock off the high and mighty attitude asshole. at the rate you're going, the lies are gonna bite you in your ass before you know it so watch it mister. learn to play the game smartly cos it's a fucking small industry here.

about home birthday gatherings

wai and chai cooked up a storm for other half's birthday dinner last night. wai made yummy mushroom liver "pate" on baguette toast (taken from the vogue recipe, can't recall which month though), deviled eggs and beans with home made yoghurt dips, salad, steak with mustard sauce and tiramisu. shouldn't have eaten so much during high tea with jason cos dinner selection was MUCH better at wai's. good grief.

that's laura with her beloved kaofu (uncle in cantonese).

birthday boy blowing out the lone candle. don't we always try to avoid placing the exact number of candles as we get older?

laura's VERY disturbing toy dog in pampers freaked her out. darn dog looked so bloody realistic and the whole idea of a dog wrapped in pampers sitting on the pram just doesn't sit well with her. what exactly is the adoring thing about this get-up? *shudders* haha.

crossroads

she took up an offer at a new agency just before she left for the HK trip. although she was kinda hesitant after the first interview, the second meeting made it all perfect again. she recognised traits of good leaders and knew it was a great road in towards potential personal growth and opportunities.

it's a darn hassle moving again, getting to know people and building the little good ole relationships with key people but her stay here is probably long overdue. she can deal with challenging situations as long as work gets rolled out and be done with at the end of the day. what she can't see eye to eye is a 360 change of brief at the final hour yet work is expected to be rolled out at the same delivery date cos the little people are supposedly paid to deliver according to their whims and fancies. best thing yet? someone on top suffering from IMS (important man syndrome) seem resigned and always take on each rebrief with gusto without bothering to explain why the new direction doesn't work cos it doesn't bring out certain key messages which paymasters wanted in the first place. and what happens when you try to squeeze more than five messages into an ad? you get an economic rice flavour= average results cos YOUR FUCKING MESSAGE gets diluted amongst four other things which you feel is important. what's frustating is your smart bosses recognise that and pointed out MANY a time not to be too literal in your ads cos the consumers you're reaching out to ARE NOT ILLITERATE people. how can you not see that?

that's why she's made up her mind to move on. she just cannot be passive sitting around watching small picture people make big decisions anymore. the high blood pressure is killing her.

here's a pre celebratory toast to herself, cheers!

the HK rundown

nothing beats good wanton noodles in HK

me and our gracious HK host sumei who introduced us to lokyu tea house and the all exclusive voila club at LKF. saw coco lee in person who made the other half's night by asking him to finish his drink and dance with her *hyuk* met sumei's HK buds garett, tien and friends. kick ass night.

celebrated an early birthday lunch for other half at The Peak Lookout . fab service, excellent ambience, kinda pricey but worth every penny from the escargoes, salmon caesar salad, beef steak burger, red curry rice. too bad bout the bad fog at the peak though.

HK Disneyland. worst of the lot amongst the disney franchise. first time she finished walking round disneyland in less than half a day...and to think they had to retake Space mountain and shrek rides four times each to make their disney day out worth its fun. goodness!

check out the warning signs at mad hatter's spinning teacups ride. we underestimated the severity of the "teacup ride" and ended up feeling pukish after some hardcore spins.

a mini typhoon on disney main street *haha*

pigged out totally, and i mean EVERYDAY while watching discovery. damn, am gonna miss the bakeries, roasted goose and dessert.

the trip was great fun but what made it better was having nice quiet alone time with the other half after all these work crazy months.

the best of her life right now is here.
