taiwanese teen loveramas
she's never been interested in asian stuff cept for the avant garde films cos the rest just seem...uninteresting. the only chinese drama that caught her eye by accident (cable surfing) was a taiwanese hit meteor garden about two or three years ago. she even bought the soundtrack (a mixture of english and chinese ballads and soft rock, quite interesting). embarassed as she was, she's never admitted watching that teen crap on cable then, but it was entertaining eye candy and honestly, which woman wouldn't be interested in old school romanticism and the whole cinderella bullshit?the story was adapted from a japanese manja and it surprised ms bee that it became a massive hit amongst the older women in singapore. the aunties in her ex agency, particularly an odd ball in the media department was so in love with the male lead that she spent a couple of hundreds buying his posters, memorabilia, and whathaveyous...sheesh...
back to the story, poor girl gets to go to a private school cos her dad works there as some cleaner or whatever (does that not remind you of the infamous virginia andrews books?). poor girl gets picked on by rich brats (for obvious reasons), and was made an enemy by hunk. for some warped reason, after all that picking and bullying, bloody rich hunk fell so in love with poor girl. rich hunk's mother disapproves and the star crossed lovers had to endure many painful drama moments before finally getting together.
how can any woman resist the inner child's slightest hope of a fairytale finally coming true?
awww.
