to the zoo

"i can't decide which is worse, going for a wedding at sentosa or the zoo"

the agency attended a colleague's wedding at pavilion by the lake, spore zoo last night and though it was a bitch getting there, she was glad she made it cos it was one of the best weddings she's been to so far. one half of the couple's in advertising, the other half in events. so you can just imagine how unconventional the wedding would be with two nutzoids *hehe*. hamish and friends did excellent renditions of various jazz favourites, the buffet sit down dinner was filled with oodles of fun and dance. do you remember watching american weddings in Father of the Bride? the westerners (europeans, americans etc) have got the wedding formula right. short dinners, casual dress code, song and dance, live jazz, outdoor romanticism...awww. singaporeans on the other hand seem to grasp a different POV, instead of selecting an ideal place they both want, the couple would likely end up at some big name hotel in a convenient location for the wrong reasons. like...if it's too far, no relatives and friends will come, no angpow, bo hua leh.

in case you don't get it, the chinese tradition consists of giving a red packet consisting of $80-$100 (per person) to the wedded couple depending on the hotel location and type of dinner served. unlike the western culture of giving gifts, the chinese, being the most practical of the lot, prefers monetary cash. the amount of angpows received should usually be able to cover the initial costs of the banquet unless of course you're related to a massive bunch of morons who give $100 angpow for a family/ entourage of five. for these people, they probably only deserve free flow of chinese tea and perhaps, dessert.

anyway, digressed as usual. will post safari themed wedding pics tonight (yes, pls do invite fun sporting people to weddings, they do make a BIG difference) but till then, raj and vianna, may the future be filled with love always.
