dinner with the ladies

last evening was spent with tam and celine at first thai, located at the end of purvis street. they've got delish crab meat fried rice and excellent minced pork with basil too, yum. oh, apparently the waitress mistook us for thirty- something women. wah lau eh. three single women having dinner together makes them old maids issit?

anyhow, headed over to essential brew for some tea, darnest decision we made cos i reckon we would've enjoyed ourselves more if we stayed at menotti. the guys at essential brew are sweet and polite BUT the service speed has got to be one of the MOST retarded i've ever seen. it took them like 10 minutes to tell us white peony tea wasn't available. ok, fine, so we picked the glutinous green tea and were told like another 5-8 minutes later that the green tea may also not be available. good grief, so can you please tell us what you have instead? tsktsk. plus shouldn't you as the service staff be notified about what's available or not and inform your customers asap instead of letting them sit around waiting twiddling their thumbs? anyhow, we didn't make a fuss cos the guys look terrified of us. which brings me to another point, do we look that intimidating? anyway, nice as they are but i'm really particular about service standards and if you're telling me you're closing at 11pm (we got in at 10), shouldn't you be a tad more responsive and speedy? last time i'm stepping in that place though, all it takes is ONE bad experience.

quote of the night:

"my ovaries are DORMANT, not EXTINCT"

came about after our female pep talk on long term injestion of contraceptive pills. haha.
