about feeling like home again

she's back from the short perth getaway.

how was it? everyone's been asking her and she gave the same answer. good, she says.

but it wasn't really.

it was rather...bittersweet.

the superficial...
good old hong kong wanton mee at freo market is no longer there
mussels at pizza bellaroma weren't as fresh and tantalising anymore
vinnies (vintage store in freo) was closed for renovations
jaws sushi became quite unaffordable given the hike in prices
davina and violet clothing stores disappeared from subi station market and was replaced by a disturbing number of asian stalls selling chatuchak like wares
thank god Boffins and Matsuri are still well and alive

the ones that matter most...
quality time shared with her mom. the entire trip was like a yoyo, filled with many highs and lows. they debated, talked, cried, comforted and laughed over the silliest things but something along the way made her feel different. perth has changed, no doubt bout that. it may not be the ideal which she remembered from two years back but the place still offered her a sense of comfort, like a security blanket that she can cover and hide herself in when the mind gets a tad messy. it was a trip full of reflections.

bittersweet indeed. we all have a choice don't we? we can choose to live, die, stay in one place or simply pack our bags and disappear without a trace.

why do crossroads always appear just when she thinks she's got it right this time?
